Takedown and Correction Process

How reported businesses, reporters, and affected people can request review, correction, reply, or removal.

Last updated 2 September 2026

1. Purpose

This process is designed to handle incorrect, outdated, unfair, private, unsafe, unlawful, or disputed content quickly and consistently.

PayProof AU is not trying to suppress genuine negative evidence. It is trying to avoid fake reports, wrong-entity reports, privacy breaches, unfair publication, and legally risky wording.

2. Who can request review

  • A business named in a report.
  • A person named in a report.
  • A director, officeholder, employee, contractor, or authorised representative of a named business.
  • A reporter who wants to correct or withdraw their own submission.
  • A person whose personal information appears in a report or evidence file.
  • A lawyer, regulator, platform provider, or other person with a legitimate reason to contact PayProof AU about the content.

3. What to include

  • The ABN, business name, person name, report link, screenshot, or other details that identify the content.
  • Your name, role, business, and contact details.
  • Send the request to ben.b.halligan@gmail.com.
  • The outcome requested: correction, right of reply, label as disputed, removal, redaction, or private review.
  • A clear explanation of what is wrong, incomplete, misleading, private, unsafe, unlawful, or unfair.
  • Supporting documents where available, such as payment receipts, settlement records, corrected invoices, court orders, correspondence, ASIC records, or identity-mismatch evidence.

4. Urgent review

PayProof AU should restrict or remove content quickly while reviewing if it appears to contain private identity information, full bank details, threats, hate or protected-attribute content, the wrong person or business, material covered by a suppression order, or a credible legal or safety risk.

5. Review timing

  • Acknowledge serious takedown or correction requests within 2 business days where possible.
  • Restrict visibility while checking urgent privacy, safety, legal, or wrong-entity concerns.
  • Aim to make an initial decision within 10 business days where enough information is provided.
  • Allow more time where documents need checking, a response is incomplete, or legal advice is needed.

6. Possible outcomes

  • Correct factual details, such as dates, amounts, entity names, ABNs, payment status, or public-record labels.
  • Add a response or mark the report as disputed.
  • Remove, redact, or de-identify private, irrelevant, unsafe, or unsupported material.
  • Keep a neutral report online where the evidence remains strong and publication is fair.
  • Keep the matter private while the evidence, identity, legal, or fairness issues are unresolved.

7. Right of reply

A reported business or affected person may provide a concise response, supporting documents, or correction request. PayProof AU may display a moderated response beside the report or use the response to update the verification status.

A response must be factual and respectful. It must not include threats, abuse, private personal information, protected-attribute comments, or unsupported allegations about the reporter.

8. Repeat or abusive requests

PayProof AU may decline repeat, bad-faith, abusive, threatening, irrelevant, or unsupported requests, but should still correct clear mistakes when they are identified.

9. Records

PayProof AU may retain private records of takedown requests, moderation decisions, corrections, removed material, and correspondence where needed for audit, legal, safety, privacy, or abuse-prevention reasons.
